Below is the list of nominees for Catholic School Council including a brief biography. You will be sent a ballot Friday, October 16th.  You will be able to vote for 21 members.

  1. Maria Albanese:

Mrs. Albanese has been a member of Council for the past two years. She has been active on the following committees: Hot Lunch, Fundraising and Events, Healthy Snack Program and Pancake Tuesday. She is always happy to volunteer her talents and time for the benefit of the school.

  1. Pina Barone:

Mrs. Barone was a part of Council last year and participated actively in all committees, especially Fundraising and Events. Her goal is to help the students and continue to be an active participant in CSC. She is always willing and happy to volunteer her talents and time for the benefit of the students.

  1. Rosemary Barranca:

I am a mother of three children. I have been involved on Parent Council for the past three years; here at St. Gabriel Archangel which I am an alumni. I am highly motivated and committed to the Hot Lunch program, Healthy Snack program, and Community building. I was a recipient of the Vaughan Volunteer award given to me by Deputy Mayor Ferri. I am always looking forward to new ideas and endeavours brought forth from the parent community.

  1. Dave Buonfiglio:

Mr. Buonfiglio was a member of the CSC in the past for 6 years. He has held the positions of Vice Chair and Parish rep. He was also an active member in all committees. He is interested in rejoining so that he can contribute his talents and time in the best interests of the students’ well-being.

  1. Agnes Cornacchione-Brown:

Hi there. I am warm, kind, empathetic, I enjoy making others smile. I am a mother of three, in which two of my children attend Father Bressani. We are a supporter of the arts, as my husband and I own our own Ballroom and Latin dance studio for adults. I am very outgoing and love to build confidence in others. I have the ability to engage others to open up, even when they are reluctant. I have volunteered at church to teach catechism and prepare young children to take first communion, for over 6 years. We support our catholic faith by attending mass, our two youngest alter serve and my oldest has been on the chaplaincy council for the last two years, and we pray together as a family every evening. We support our children’s schools as a whole, in order to bring the community together. I have attended parent council meetings for the last seven years as a visiting parent and hope to continue do so, even if I am not on council. I would like to lend my services, wherever they are needed.

  1. Maria D’Angelo:

Mrs. D’Angelo is a mother of two. She has been a member of Council for two years and before that an active volunteer for Council. In the past year, Mrs. D’Angelo has been on the Snack Program Committee as well as Fundraising and Events and Community Building.

  1. Diana Fiorucci:

Diana Fiorucci been on council for 4 years was co-chair for 2 years for community building.

  1. Diana Lacaria:

Diana Lacaria has been an active member within the St. Gabriel Community. Voting Member on the St. Gabriel Parent Council during the school year 2017-2018. Held the position of Parent Council Secretary for the school year 2018-2019. Currently a board member with Youth Speaks, an Ontario non-profit youth organization dealing with mental health awareness. During the years on parent council dealt with the Argos assembly for children’s mental awareness and bullying, and was the sub-committee chair for the diversity committee dealing with children and women’s program related to health and mental awareness.

  1. Tony Lacaria:

Tony Lacaria has been an active member within our community. Held the Position of Parent Council Chair for the school year 2014-2016 at St. John Bosco. Held the Position of Parent Council Chair for the school year 2017-2019 at St. Gabriel the Archangel. Sub – Committee Chairs for the Lunch Time Program and the Healthy Snack School Program. Currently an active member with the Knights of Columbus and held the Position of Grand Knight (2016).

  1. Frank Longobardi:

I am a Learning and Development professional with 20 years of experience and passionate about learning. I have been part of the Catholic School Council for 7 years and held various positions, which I have enjoyed. I would like to continue on the parent council and continue giving back my community. I was also part of the St. Gabriel Child Care Board for 6 years leading and supporting fundraising, finance and leadership initiatives.

  1. Carla Oliveira:

I would like to take this opportunity to express my interest in being re-elected as a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel’s Catholic School Council. I am a proud mom of one of the students that attend St. Gabriel the Archangel’s Catholic School. In the last school year I was a member of the council and I personally attended all of the various school council meetings and was involved in school functions that took place throughout the school year. I look forward in providing my assistance again to Mrs. Sandig, the teachers and staff at St. Gabriel the Archangel’s Catholic School and will do my very best to help provide the best educational outcome for all of the students at St. Gabriel. Thank you all for your kind consideration on my re-election to St. Gabriel’s the Archangel’s Catholic School Council and I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Nancy Pace:

Mrs. Pace was on Council last year and participated on the Healthy Snack Program and the Diversity Committees. She is would like to continue her work on Council and contribute her talents in the areas of well-being and mindfulness of students. She would like to also be a support to the staff, students and community.

  1. Nancy Papa:

Parent of Matthew (grade 7) and Milla (Grade 4). Looking to be a contributing member of the 2020/2021 parent council. Member of council for 5 years and would like to continue working with council members and school staff to ensure that we are optimizing the learning environment for our children, specifically focused on the technology needs that the school is currently lacking.

  1. Elva Patterson:

I have a son in grade 7 at St Gabriel. I was on the Board of Directors at St John Bosco Child care centre for four years as secretary and I was on the parent Council at St John Bosco as either a voting member or secretary for 10 years. I would like to re-join the council to help the children have a wonderful year.

  1. Vanessa Pedone:

Vanessa Pedone has been an active member with the Parent Council. She has held the position as a voting member for 2016-2019. This past year (2019-2020) she held the position of Parent Council Chair for the school year 2019-2020.

  1. Julie Paolucci:

Proud mother of two children. Member of Parent Council for the school years 2015-2019. Member of sub committees of the Heathy School Program, Lunch Program and Chair of the Community Building.

  1. Lucy Maraventano:

Mrs. Maraventano is the proud mother of 2 children in Grade 1 and 3. She was a member of Council last year and was involved Community Building as well as Fundraising and Events. Mrs. Maraventano would like to be actively involved in her children’s school and help to raise funds for the needs of the school.

  1. Alexander Russo:

Mr. Russo has been a CSC member for the past two years. He has been active on several committees and is always willing to lend a helping hand for the benefit of the school.

  1. Leanna Santorsola:

I have 3 children that attend St. Gabriel in grades 7, 4 and 2. I have been a part of the parent council for 6 years- serving a secretary for 2 and vice chair for 1. I have been part of technology, fundraising and faith committee to name a few. My time on council has been enjoyable as well as rewarding to give back to the children and students.

 

  1. Riccardo Scicchitano:

Trusted parent, friend and mediator of all subjects pertaining to the future and well-being of our children.

  1. Nancy Spagnuolo Dasilva:

I have been part of the parent council for St. Gabriel School for three years. I have volunteered to help with the needs of the school and council expectations as a member of council. Recently, I have the role of secretary for council and was responsible for taking minutes during our meetings held once a month. I would like to continue my role as a parent of council and be part of the process to improve student achievement and well-being.

  1. Joanne Tibaldi:

Hi, my name is Joanne Tibaldi and I am a mother of three that attend St. Gabriel! I have been a parent representative on Catholic School Council since my oldest daughter was in grade one at St. John Bosco and have continued on as a representative when we merged as one with St. Gabriel, therefore a member for six years! I work full time as a Registered Nurse and have been a part of the Faith, Community Building, and Hot Lunch Committees over the past six years! I’m highly motivated and have a vested interest in making a difference in our school community to make our children’s experience during their elementary years positive and enjoyable. If given the opportunity for another year, I would be honored to be a part of the St. Gabriel Catholic School Council and be a voting member to make a difference.

Community Rep and Parish Rep: These positions are appointed by elected Catholic School Council members at the first meeting. Please note that these two positions can be filled by community members who have been affiliated with the school and not necessarily on the nomination ballot for parent member representatives. These two reps are not part of the 21 members that will comprise the CSC.

Nominees to be considered for these appointments at the CSC meeting are:

Parish rep: A. DaSilva – has been parish rep for the past 2 years and was a previously a CSC member at SGA

Community Rep: E. Polin-De Luca

I have a special connection with the school and would like to continue in my role as Community Rep. I feel that, having been on Council at St. Gabriel’s for the past 18 years and as a YCPIC Rep I can bring an objective voice to working towards the well-being of our children and community in collaboration with the SGA staff and administration.

Staff positions on Council are not voted on by the community and are as follows:
